FAQs

I can’t see the menu

If you are looking at our website on your mobile phone, you may need to turn your phone sideways (landscape) for the menu to work properly.

Where do you ship?

We ship to the UK. However, we can ship anywhere that doesn’t already have a Star Line agent / distributor in that country. Please ask us for a shipping quote before you order as the postage quoted is for UK customers only.

How do I return an item?

Please contact us to advise us the reason for the return. If the product is in as new condition (i.e. unused and still sealed in original packaging) you can send it back to our warehouse. It will be at your cost (unless it’s our mistake). Products should be posted in appropriate protective packaging and sent by a tracked mail service to ensure safe arrival.

Please enclose a note confirming the reason for return and whether you would like the goods exchanged (subject to availability), credited to your account or refunded to the Credit/Debit card used to purchase the products.

What’s the address of your warehouse for returns or in-person collections?

I’ve ordered the wrong size or style of product, can I change it?

If we haven’t yet dispatched your order, please contact us as soon as you realise and we can amend your order subject to availability.

However, if you have received your order you will need to contact us as soon as possible to let us know. If the product is still in as new condition (i.e. unused and sealed in original packaging) you can send it back to our warehouse. It will be at your cost. Products should be posted in appropriate protective packaging and sent by a tracked mail service to ensure safe arrival.

Please enclose a note stating the product you wish to exchange it for. Following inspection and confirmation that we can resell the item(s), we will send you the correct size or style if available, but there will be an additional postage cost for you to pay.

What’s your cut off time for ordering?

To be included in our Thursday dispatch you need to complete your order by 9am on the Thursday morning. Any orders we receive after this time will be dispatched the following week.

When will I get my order?

And postage info.

We dispatch once a week, usually on a Thursday morning. Our standard delivery is via Royal Mail Tracked 24 or 48. Many customers will receive their orders the following day or the day after if Tracked 24 is chosen. However, we can’t guarantee this. Once orders have been dropped at our local post office, delivery times depend on the Royal Mail service in your area.

If your order is over 1.4kg it will be dispatched using Parcelforce Worldwide Express 24 or 48.  This is due to the size restriction in the postal tube (we can only fit 4 smaller batons or 3 larger batons per tube).  Your order will arrive in a courier box which is a Royal Mail large parcel and is delivered by Parcelforce.

We have previously used EVRI as a cheaper alternative but this has proved unreliable for many of our customers, therefore, we have decided not to offer this as a delivery option going forward except for some baton cases that we are unable to send via Royal Mail due to size and shape.

Taking into account the latest Royal Mail price increases, we shall be offering the Royal Mail Tracked 48 service which will take slightly longer to arrive but gives customers a cheaper option.

The postage paid covers the postal service, VAT and handling/packaging costs.

Please note if you live in more remote areas of the United Kingdom your order may take longer to arrive.

If an error message appears in checkout regarding postage please contact us, equally if you wish to purchase bulk quantities contact us for a shipping quote.

Where are you based?

Our warehouse is based in Crawley, West Sussex.

Can I collect my order instead of paying postage?

Yes of course.  If you live within 20 miles of our warehouse, please choose the ‘Collect in person’ postage option at the checkout. You’ll then need to email us to arrange collection. If you’re not available to collect when we’re at our warehouse on Thursday mornings, we can arrange to leave your order with the reception staff for you to pick up when convenient.  If you live more than 20 miles away you won’t see this option, please contact us to arrange this before you complete your order.

How do I measure for a baton?

Batons are sold in inches. To work out the correct size of baton, ask the athlete to stand with their arm straight out in front of them. Measure in inches from under their armpit to the end of their third finger and that will give you the size you need.

Do you do deals for dance teachers?

Unfortunately not because many of our customers run dance, twirling or majorette groups. However, if you wish to place a bulk order for more than 10 batons in one go, we may be able to offer a small discount.

How do I make a special order?

Please contact us to discuss your requirements. Once we’ve confirmed availability we ask for a 50% deposit to secure your order.

What’s the difference between a Classic Star baton and a Super Star baton?

A Classic Star baton has a plain shaft which is 7/16” diameter. The Super Star baton (thinner 3/8” shaft) comes in a fluted style (indentations on the shaft approximately a third of the way down from either end). The Super Star baton is also available with a plain shaft without the fluting (i.e. it looks like the Classic Star) but the shafts for both Super Star styles at 3/8”, are thinner than the Classics .

We are currently unable to restock the fluted Super Star batons - this is due to a manufacturing issue - we are hoping this is only a temporary issue but we do not currently know when a new supply of fluted batons will become available.

What’s the difference between a Fluted Super Star baton and a Super Star baton with a plain shaft?

The Fluted Super Star baton has indentations on the shaft approximately a third of the way down from either end. The plain shaft Super Star batons have no indentations on the shaft. Both Super Star styles have the thin 3/8” shaft.
How do I change the ends of my baton?

When removing baton ends, the manufacturer advises them to be cut off with a Stanley knife to avoid displacing the weights on the steel shaft. If baton ends are pulled off, the weights may move which can affect the balance of the baton.

Can I put a different style of ends on my baton? This is not advised because it may affect the weighting and balance of the baton.
Why do you only dispatch once a week?

We are an extremely small business and within the current climate it’s not cost effective for us to dispatch more than once a week. This is to ensure that we can keep our costs to you as low as possible.

I need my order quickly and I’ve missed your weekly dispatch day. Can you help?

We might be able to organise a special dispatch for an additional cost of £20, however you must contact us first before placing your order. This service will depend on staff availability.
